Head football coach Jamie Cruce has announced the 2008-2009 recruit class. Cruce has signed 50 new student-athletes, six of which are transfers. The list includes seven from Kansas.
Kansas
Alec Begnoche, Wakefield, Kan.
Begnoche is a 5'10", 225 lb. defensive tackle from Wakefield High School. There he earned all-league and all-district offensive guard two years, all-league defensive tackle one year and all-area offensive/defensive line one year.
During his two years on the football team, Begnoche had 14 sacks and 31 solo tackles.
At Wakefield H.S., Begnoche also played basketball and participated in track and field. He also was active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
Begnoche is the son of Barbara Estey and Alan Begnoche. He has a 3.2 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study accounting.
Seth Bell, Beverly, Kan.
Bell is a 5'9" 180 lb. defensive back, punter, kicker from Tescott High School. He earned all- league honors as a punter/kicker. At Tescott High, Bell was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated with a 3.36 GPA.
Bell is the son of Christopher and Rhonda. He plans to major in athletic training and physical education at Bethany.
Taylor Dirks, Wakeeney, Kan.
Dirks is a 6', 220 lb. linebacker from Trego Community High School. There he was a four-year starter with 58 solo tackles and 50 assists. Dirks earned all-state and all-league honors his junior and senior years.
At Trego, Dirks also wrestled and played golf four years. Off the court he was a four-time member of the honor roll, also earning academic letters four years.
Dirks is the son of Max and Irene Dirks. He has a 3.0 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study education.
Jacob Erickson, Augusta, Kan.
Eickson is a 6', 230 lb defensive lineman from Augusta High School. There he was a two-year starter earning second-team AVCTL honors his senior season. In addition he was voted most inspirational player by his teammates in 2007. At Augusta H.S., Erickson also participated in varsity track and field for three years.
Erickson is the son of Sheryl and Larry Erickson. An honor roll student, Erickson has a 3.0 high school GPA. At Bethany, he plans to study secondary education.
Derek Moos, Clay Center, Kan.
Moos is a 6'0", 205 lb linebacker from Clay Center High School. There he participated in football four years, earning all-academic honors and NCKL honorable mention. Moos also played basketball three years and participated in track and field two years.
Moos is the son of Mark and Tomi Moos. A member of the National Honor Society, Moos has a 3.84 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study in the college's pre-medicine program.
Levi Turner, Haysville, Kan.
Turner is a 6'3", 195 lb. tight end from Campus High School. There Tuner was a two-year letter winner.
Turner is the son of Mike Turner. At Bethany he plans to study health and wellness.
Andrew Westbrook, Canton, Kan.
Westbrook is a 6'0", 170 lb. defensive back from Canton-Galva High School. There he earned all-league and all-state honors in football. He also earned all-league honors in baseball.
Westbrook is an active member of many organizations including student council, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Westbrook is the son of Darla and Marvin. He graduated with a 3.98 GPA and was the Salutatorian of his graduating class. Westbrook plans to study pre-engineering at Bethany.
Out of State
Andrew Alpough, Channelview, Texas
Alpough is a 5'9", 160 lb. wide receiver/corner from Channelview High School. There he was a three-year starter and letterwinner. He earned all-district honorable mention as a corner in 2007 with 33 tackles, 14 breakups and two forced fumbles.
He is the son of Karla Alpough and Andrew Broussard. At Bethany he plans to study pre-medicine.
Dewayne Autry, South Houston, Texas
Autry is a 6'1", 185 lb. defensive back from South Houston High School. There he was a three-year starter and letterwinner. He also played basketball and participated in track and field. Autry earned all district honors in basketball as a junior.
He is the son of Katherine Brownlow. At Bethany he plans to study kinesiology and English.
Brian A. Bates, Jr., Alvin, Texas
Bates is a 6', 275 lb. offensive lineman from Alvin High School. There he was a three-year offensive and defensive line starter. He earned All 24-5A District Team and All Brazoria County honors his junior and senior years.
Bates was also a three-year letterman on the track and field team at Alvin HS. He qualified for the regionals in powerlifting his senior year.
Bates, Jr. is the son of Candic and Brian Bates, Sr. He has a 3.5 high school GPA, earning him a spot on the A-B honor roll. At Bethany he plans to study business or education.
Travis Brough, Kansas City, Mo.
Brough is a 6', 220 lb. linebacker from Park Hill High School. There, he also was on the wrestling team.
Brough is the son of Beverly and John Brough. He has a 2.5 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study Biology.
Drew Campbell, Fresno, Texas
Campbell is a 5'10", 175 lb. wide receiver from Thurgood Marshall High School in Missouri City, Texas. There he also was on the track and field team. With a 3.1 GPA, Campbell was on the honor roll.
Campbell is the son of Michael and Stephanie Campbell. At Bethany he plans to study sports management.
Charles Cochran, Apopka, Fla.
Chochran is a 5'11", 275 lb. defensive lineman from Lake Brantley High School. There, he also played baseball as well as participating in extracurricular activities such as basketball, volleyball, fishing and hunting. He will be on the baseball team at Bethany as well.
Cochran is the son of Penny and Dwayne Cochran.
Milton Collins, Baytown, Texas
Collins is a 5'10", 165 lb. defensive back from Ross S. Sterling High School. There he was named defensive MVP, twice accumulating the most tackles in a season.
Collins is the son of Milton Collins and Victoria Green. At Bethany he plans to study in the college's pre-medicine program.
Manasah Elkanah Davis, Baytown, Texas
Davis is a 5'7" running back, wide receiver, punt returner, and kick returner from Ross Sterling High School. With 356 rushing yards and 821 receiving yards, Davis earned all-district honors his senior year. He was also an all-district selection his sophomore and junior years.
Davis was also a four-year varsity letter winner in basketball at Ross Sterling HS. He will also play basketball at Bethany.
Davis is the son of Sharon and Elvis Davis. He has a high school GPA of 3.49. At Bethany he plans to study business marketing.
Travis Davidson, Friendswood, Texas
Davidson is a 5'10", 168 lb. wide receiver from Clear Brook High School. There he played football four years. He was named Receiver of the Year and is the high school's leading receiver.
Davidson is the son of Jack and Debbie Davidson. He has a 3.81 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study sports management.
Jonathan Disston, Satellite Beach, Fla.
Disston is a 6'3", 189 lb. wide receiver from Merritt Island Christian School. There he was a four-year letter winner in football and a two-year letter winner in baseball. He earned Mid-Central Florida Christian All Conference honors his senior season
Disston is the son of Rita and Don Disston. At Bethany he plans to study Criminal Justice.
Jon Followill, Newalla, Okla.
Followill is a 6'1" 235 lb. defensive lineman from Little Axe High School. There he was the state runner-up in power lifting for the 220 lb. weight class. Followill also participated in wrestling and track.
Followill is the son of Ralph and Elaine and has a high school GPA of 3.85.
Phillip Frazier, Drumright, Okla.
Frazier is a 5'11", 215 lb. linebacker from Drumright High School. There he was a four-year starter, starting 42-straight games. Frazier was captain of the football team and was recognized in the Oklahoma Kickoff and Pigskin Preview magazines.
At Drumright H.S., Frazier also played baseball his senior year. Academically he earned numerous science and math honors, participated in Oklahoma Boys State and served as a page at the state capitol. With a 3.8 high school GPA, Frazier was named Academic Team MVP.
Frazier is the son of Phil and Patricia Frazier. At Bethany he plans to study in the college's pre-medicine program.
Taylor Geddis, Midwest City, Okla.
Geddis is a 6', 180 lb. safety / linebacker from Choctaw High School, Choctaw, Okla. There he played football three years and basketball two years.
Geddis is the son of Marlon and Angela Geddis. He has a 3.0 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study education.
Trey Goodchild, The Colony, Texas
Goodchild is a 6', 170 lb. defensive back and wide receiver from The Colony High School. There he earned All-District honors for safety. He had 427 receiving yards and 60 solo tackles.
At The Colony HS, Goodchild also played basketball and track. He will be on the track and field team at Bethany.
Goodchild is the son of Pam Goodchild-May. He has a 3.0 high school GPA. He plans to study biology at Bethany.
Adam Grimes, Arlington, Texas
Grimes is a 5'11", 205 lb. defensive end from Arlington High School. There he played both baseball and football four years. He also received the Arlington High School Student Achievement Award.
Grimes is the son of Steve and Trisha Grimes.
Allan Harris, Warren, Ohio
Harris is a 5'11", 180 lb. defensive back from Independence Community College and Howland High School in Ohio. He was a four-year letter winner in track and a three-year letter winner in football in high school. His senior season he amassed 16 pass break ups, two interceptions and 42 tackles.
Harris is the son of Tia Taylor and Robert Langston. At Bethany he plans to study criminal justice or sports management.
Roger Hays, West Covina, Calif.
Hays is a 6'1", 315 lb. offensive linemen from Mount San Antonio College and Bishop Amat High School. While at Mount San Antonio Hays was a member of the 10-3 State Runner Up team.
Hays is the son of Danalynn and Gene Hays. At Bethany he plans to study psychology.
Christian Heredia, Amarillo, Texas
Heredia is a 5'11", 170 lb. running back from Randall High School. There he was twice named player of the week and twice earned the hit of the week. He amassed 950 rushing yards with three touchdowns his senior season.
At Randall High, Heredia also played baseball, participated in track and field and powerlifting.
Heredia is the son of Randy and Dawn Heredia. He has a 3.3 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study sports management or athletic training.
Quentin Hoskins, Mount Pleasant, Texas
Hoskins is a 5'9", 165 lb. outside linebacker from Mt. Pleasant High School. There he was a two-year starter earning firs-team all-district honors both years. He had two sacks and 73 solo tackles. At Mt. Pleasant High, Hoskins also was a two-year starter on the basketball team.
Hoskins is the son of Michelle Hoskins. He has a 3.5 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study business.
Al Jones, Sacramento, Calif.
Jones is a 6'0", 310 lb. lineman from Delta College and Grant High School. Jones was named all-Metro Conference in 2006 as an offensive lineman. He was also named to the Dean's List while at Delta College.
Jones is the son of Lisa Bull. At Bethany he plans to study physical education.
Jon Austin Kaehn, The Colony, Texas
Kaehn is a 6'0", 210 lb. linebacker from The Colony High School. He was named to the first team all-district team as a senior.
Kaehn is the son of Tammy and Jon. He graduated with a 3.0 GPA and plans to study pre-engineering at Bethany.
Anthony King, The Colony, Texas
King is a 6'0", 170 lb. defensive back from The Colony High School. He was named honorable mention All District his senior season.
King has a 3.1 GPA and plans to study Accounting at Bethany. He is the son of Sam and Michael.
Joshua Knight, Aurora, Colo.
Knight is a 6'5", 200 lb. kicker/punter from Cherokee Train High School. There he earned also played basketball, earning all-conference honors. He also will play basketball at Bethany.
Knight is the son of tom and Rhonda Knight. He has a 3.4 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study political science and history education.
Marc Lumsden, Jackson, Mo.
Lumsden is a 6'4", 240 lb. quarterback from University of Nebraska Kearney and Jackson High School.
Lumsden has a 3.2 GPA and plans to major in biology at Bethany. He is the son of Todd and Janice Lumsden.
Oshane Malcom, Miramar, Fla.
Malcom is a 5'8", 180 lb. running back from South Broward High School. There Malcom also competed in track and field.
Malcolm is the son of Paulette Mullings and Rohan Malcolm. He graduated with a 2.9.
Alex Marcelin, Wyandanch, NY
Marcelin is a 6'3", 250 lb. defensive end from Alfred State College. He attended Half Hallow Hills West High School. There, he was an all division defensive end/tight end.
Marcelin is the son of Marcia Marcelin. At Bethany he plans to study psychology.
Jorge Monzon, Dickinson, Texas
Monzon is a 5'10", 180 lb. defensive back from Clear Brook High School. There he was a three-year letter winner in both football and track. His senior year he earned honorable mention all district honors as a defensive back.
Monzon, the son of Silvia and Jorge Monzon, has a high school GPA of 3.56.
Justin Ortiz, Baytown, Texas
Ortiz is a 6'1", 280 lb. offensive lineman from Robert E. Lee High School. There he was a two-year starter and a three-year letter winner. Ortiz also participated in track and field while throwing the shot put and discus.
Ortiz is the son of Juanita Ortiz. He has a high school GPA of 3.5 and plans to study pre-medicine at Bethany.
Collin Parks, Tulsa, Okla.
Parks is a 5'11", 170 lb. wide receiver. He comes to Bethany from Tulsa Central High School in Tulsa, OK. There he played football as well as basketball and track and field. Parks played in the Jim Thorpe All-Star game and was named the game's MVP.
Parks has a 2.7 high school GPA. At Bethany, he plans to study athletic training.
Donovan Patterson, Houston, Texas
Patterson is a 5'6", 170 lb. defensive back from Westfield High School.
Patterson, the son of Vincent Larue, graduated with a 3.9 GPA and plans to study business at Bethany.
Salvador Ramirez, Baytown, Texas
Ramirez is a 6'0", 290 lb. offensive linemen from Robert E. Lee High School. There he was a two-year letter winner and a two-year starter. His senior season he won the Piyi Kern Award for courage and leadership.
Ramirez is the son of Virginia Ramirez and plans to study kinesiology.
Roderick Richards, North Las Vegas, Nev.
Richards is a 6', 210 lb. linebacker from Clark High School and Scottsdale Community College.
At Bethany he plans to study criminal justice.
Adam Rivera, Baytown, Texas
Rivera is a 6'2", 260 lb. offensive lineman from Robert E. Lee High School. There he was a three-starter and letter winner at center. Rivera was named all-district his junior and senior season.
Rivera is the son of Nancy Rivera. Rivera has a high school GPA of 3.6 and graduated in the top ten percent of his class.
TJ Rodriguez, Van Buren, Ark.
Rodriguez is a 6'1", 165 lb. kicker / punter from Van Buren High School. There he was an all-state player for the soccer team and also played in the all star football game.
Rodriguez is the son of Kimberly and Tomas Rodriguez and plans to study sports management at Bethany.
Zach Schroeder, Fort Worth, Texas
Schroeder is a 6'3", 265 lb. offensive lineman from Azle High School. There he was a two-year starter and letterwinner. He also played baseball and was a one-year letterwinner.
Schroeder is the son of Jim and Kelly Schroeder. At Bethany he plans to study social science/history.
David Scott, Castle Rock, Colo.
Scott is a 6'0" 260 lb. offensive lineman from Douglas County High School.
He is the son of David and Sue Scott and plans on majoring in art at Bethany.
Robert Stenseth, Mesquite, Texas
Stenseth is a 6'1", 245 lb offensive lineman from Terrell High School. There he also participated in track and field.
He is the son of Robert and Brenda Stenseth. At Bethany, he plans to study criminal justice.
Michael Terry, Bell Gardens, Calif.
Terry is a 6', 230 lb. linebacker from Bell Gardens High School and Cerritos College, Norwalk, Calif. At Bell Gardens High, he earned first-team defense and second-team offense honors. He also played basketball and participated in track and field, earning MVP honors in all sports.
At Cerritos College, Terry led the team in interceptions, tackles for loss and tipped passes, earning him all-conference honors.
Terry is the son of Blanca Rangel and grandson of Manna and Humbarto Lizarraga. He has a 2.9 GPA. At Bethany he plans to study business.
Octavio Torres, Baytown, Texas
Torres is a 5'11", 200 lb. quarterback and kicker from Robert E. Lee High School. There he was named second team all-district in both his junior and senior years. Torres was also named second team all-district as a soccer player.
Torres, is the son of Maria and Octavio Torres. He has a 3.1 GPA.
Brian Vanorsby, Wylie, Texas
Vanorsby is a 5'10", 170 lb. defensive back from Wylie High School. There he was named district honorable mention. In his senior season he had four sacks with 32 solo tackles. He also participated in track and field two years.
Vanorsby is the son of Michelle Young and Wayne Vanorsby. At Bethany he plans to study in the college's 3+2 engineering program.
Marco Velazquez, Houston, Texas
Velazquez is a 6', 225 lb. fullback from Pasadena Memorial High School. There he also played varsity baseball.
Velazquez is the son of Carmelo and Nora Velazquez. He has a 3.05 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study criminal justice.
Ferlindo Vincent, Miami, Fla.
Vincent is a 6'0", 210 lb. linebacker from Miami Jackson Senior High School. There he earned all-Dade County honors as a junior. He was also a recipient of an ABIF award in business and finance education.
Vincent, is the son of Jeanette and Luis Vincent.
Zach Waggoner, Lake Dallas, Texas
Waggoner is a 6'4", 205 lb quarterback from Lake Dallas High School. He was a two-year starter, earning all-district honors. At Lake Dallas High he also participated in basketball and track and field.
Waggoner is the son of Martin and Shari Waggoner. He has a 4.0 high school GPA. At Bethany, he plans to study history.
Kenneth Whitacre, The Colony, Texas
Whitacre is a 6'1", 215 lb linebacker / defensive end from The Colony High School. There he participated in football four years, earning all-district and all-district academic honors. He also was varsity team captain.
At The Colony High, Whitacre also played baseball four years, participated in powerlifting three years, and played basketball, soccer, and participated in track and field for two years each. Off the court Whitacre was an FCA leader and was awarded The Capitol One Community Captain award.
Whitacre is the son of Mindy Whitacre and Scott and Donna Whitacre. He has a 3.5 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study sports management.
Troy Williams, Spring, Texas
Williams is a 6'3", 215 lb. tight end from Klein High School. There, he participated in football all four years, earning second team all-district honors.
At Klein HS, Williams was also a member of the track and field team for four years and the swim team for three years.
Williams is the son of Charlotte Williams. He has a 3.7 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study business.
Brian Wise, Arlington, Texas
Wise is a 6'8 320 lb. offensive lineman from Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas.
Wise is the son of Pamela and H.B Wise. He has a 3.02 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study mathematics and minor in physics.
Dayshaun Womble, Mirarmar, Fla.
Womble is a 5'9", 160 lb. wide receiver from Miramar High School. He is the son of David and Annette Womble.
Womble has a 3.64 GPA and plans on majoring in Business.
