Tanner Smith, Goodland, Kan., has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Bethany College for the 2008-2009 academic year.
   
"We are pleased to have Tanner Smith choose to attend Bethany College where he will join both the basketball and baseball programs," stated head coach Clair Oleen.
 
Smith is a 6'1", 180 lb. basketball guard and baseball outfielder from Goodland High School. There he played football, basketball, and baseball. Smith averaged 10 points per game as well as 23 assists, 5 steals, and 8 blocks.
 
"Bethany alum Jon McLean was Tanner's basketball coach through his junior year," added Coach Olean. "Tanner is a tough, hard nosed player who will fit well in Bethany basketball."
 
Smith has a 3.77 high school GPA. At Bethany he plans to study education.
 
Smith is the son of Gary and Deb Smith.
