Bethany Athletic Association

Goals:

Uniting the older and younger alumni and friends of Bethany Athletics into a team

Enhance awareness: Bonding of the alumni-athletes, rekindle the fire and passion of Bethany student athletics.

Enhance Communication: Keeping our alumni involved and informed of the status of Bethany athletics.

Supporting the operating budget: Financially supporting specific sports and general athletic budgets through the general fund.

Reduce the chances of more athletic department budget cuts and/or reduction of sports.

Advancing Bethany Athletics: Provide an opportunity for alumni-athletes, family members and friends to financially support the giving stream of the Bethany Athletic Association.

The Bethany Athletic Association is in its third year and has many things to celebrate.  First year football coach Jamie Cruce guided the Swedes football team to a 6-4 record and a fourth place finish in the KCAC.

The Swedes volleyball team, led by second year coach TeAna Tramel, recorded a second place finish in the KCAC and made it to the regional tournament.

After two seasons totaling two wins, first year coach Steven Moore and the woman's soccer team won five matches this season and look toward next season as they continue to build the program.

First year coach Jeff Kid has the men's soccer team headed in the right direction after the Swedes increased their scoring by 500% this season.

Track and Field's indoor season, which is still in progress, has already broken two school records and qualified several individuals for Nationals.

The Swede baseball program, led by coach Matt Tramel, is the preseason favorite to win the KCAC championship and opened the season with a top 25 national ranking. While the softball team was picked to finish fourth in the KCAC.

The golf team is coming off a successful fall season and is ready to compete this spring.

Tennis returns the core of their 2007 championship team, adding several more into the mix for the spring.

Let me tell you that your support of the BAA and Bethany College makes an enormous difference in the quality of the student-athlete's experience here.  We are proud to have you as a supporter and we are certain that your continued support will help us move ahead in athletic excellence here at Bethany College.

In doing that, it is with great excitement that I share with you the plans for a Multi-Purpose Athletic Facility/Artificial Turf Field on Bethany College's campus.  You can imagine how important improved facilities are to the recruiting process and the overall morale on campus.  This field will serve many purposes.  Some of the possibilities include Bethany's football and soccer contests, band, cheer and dance programs, high school and junior high events, summer athletic camps, and community youth programs.  It will truly improve the quality of Bethany College and the Lindsborg Community.

With that in mind, we have added the option of giving directly to the Multi-Purpose Athletic Facility/Artificial Turf Field when you make your donation to the BAA.  Funding such a project is a huge undertaking and obviously we need your support to take on such projects.

Have a great 2008 and Go Swedes!
