CHEER TEAM RANKED 3RD IN PRESEASON COACHES' POLL

Wichita, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Cheer squad is ranked 3rd on the preseason coaches' poll the conference announced Thursday.

The preseason coaches' polls for competitive cheer and dance serve as predictions by the coaches of the finish at the conference championships, so only the teams fully declared to compete in the KCAC and NAIA championships were considered and able to vote. Any squads that participate in Non-NAIA postseason events were not included in the polls.

Bethel, the reigning KCAC Competitive Cheer champions, secured the top spot after tallying 60 total points and six of a possible nine first-place votes. Friends University ranked second, securing 49 total points and one of the remaining first-place votes. Rounding out the Top 3 was Bethany College, with 47 total points and the final two first-place votes.

"I think lightning just struck twice," Coach Lorenzo "Zo" Araujo said. "Being ranked 3rd when I have Repp, Venables, and Evans touching the mat for the first time; I am very confident that conference will be bunches of fun."
