CALL OF DUTY GOLD FALLS TO HILLTOPPERS

Lindsborg, Kan. - On Wednesday, March 1, the Swedes Gold Call of Duty team battled with the reigning Academy national champion Hilltoppers of St. Edward's University. The Swedes would fall to the Hilltoppers in 3 games - 87-250 on Mercado Hardpoint, 2-6 on Embassy Search and Destroy, and 0-3 on Hotel Control. 

 

"The lop-sided scoreline does not serve any justice to the Swedes gameplay on Wednesday, as many rounds throughout Map 2 or Map 3 could have been claimed by either team. I'm excited about the progress the team has made and will continue to make in the coming weeks," said coach Blake Mitchell. "A few corrected mistakes and Maps 2 and 3 are bang-bang for either side."

 

The Swedes were led in the losing effort by Junior SMG Chris "Toxic" Yoder's 35 kills, followed by Junior Main AR Hayley "Burry" Berry's 34. Toxic's 18 kills in Map 1 would lead the way, while Junior Lauren "Valkyrie" Crotinger would claim the throne with 7 in Map 2. Rounding out the series, Burry's 17-12 performance would lead the Swedes.

 

 

The Swedes next matchups come next week against California State University - Long Beach and Cal Poly Ponoma. Matchup times will be announced when available on the Swedes Esports Twitter page (@SwedesEsports).
