2018 Bethany College Football Schedule Announced

LINDSBORG, Kan. – The 2018 Bethany College football schedule is complete with 11 games, slated to begin August 25 and culminate with a bye in the final week of the season, November 10. The Swedes will host five KCAC opponents at Anderson Stadium this season: Bethel, Ottawa, conference rival Kansas Wesleyan, Sterling, and KCAC newcomer Avila.

The Swedes open the 2018 football season on the road against Benedictine in Atchison, Kansas. Benedictine is coming off of a successful 2017 campaign, where they finished the season ranked 12th in the country after narrowly losing to Saint Francis (Ind.) in the first round of the playoffs, 26-21.

"I am excited to announce our 2018 football schedule. Playing football in the KCAC is always challenging, but we have added even more strength of schedule with our season opener against Benedictine," said Head Football Coach Paul Hubbard. "Fans are in for a treat with this exciting home schedule that includes some of the toughest games in our conference. We have created an exciting game day atmosphere at home games, and we are going to need that hometown support during this formidable, upcoming season."

Bethany will kick off conference play on the road against the McPherson Bulldogs. The Swedes then play two consecutive home games. On September 8, they will host the Bethel Threshers in their home opener at Anderson Stadium. Then the Swedes will celebrate their 4th Annual Mom's Weekend on September 15 in a much anticipated rematch against the Ottawa Braves, a highly-contentious game that the Swedes won last year 30-21.

Following a trip to Southwestern on September 22, Bethany will host rival Kansas Wesleyan on September 29 in the Smoky Hill Showdown before a road game at Friends on October 6. The Swedes face the Sterling Warriors for Homecoming on October 15. Then they are at Saint Mary on October 20 and home against KCAC newcomer Avila on October 27. The Swedes will wrap up the regular season on November 3 against Tabor, before a bye week on November 10.

The first round of the NAIA playoffs will take place on November 17th. The KCAC Conference Champion will get an automatic bid to the 2018 NAIA National Championship, considering they finish in the top 20 of the NAIA rankings. The 63rd Annual NAIA Football National Championship will be played December 15 at Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach, Florida to decide the 2018 National Champions.

Additional information about game day events and activities will be announced at a later time.
