SWEDES DROP SEASON OPENER TO OKCU

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Bethany College Men's Soccer team traveled down to Oklahoma City for the season opener to take on Oklahoma City University Stars. 

In the first half of the match the Swedes came out attacking strong. In the first 10 minutes there were two shots on target, one hitting the post by freshman forward Shaid Mclean, and the other by sophomore Abraham Arrieta. The Swedes would go quiet in the first half but would finish with 6 shots on target. On the defensive side, senior Juan Pablo Soto had 4 saves including a penalty kick save. The Stars would go ahead and dominate the first half taking 14 shots; scoring 3 goals in the 8th, 21st and 43rd minute of the game. They would lead 3-0 going into the half. 

In the second half of the game, the Swedes were able to make adjustments and answer back with a goal from sophomore Josh Amador in the 48th minute bringing the match to 3-1. They would carry that momentum attacking the Stars defense taking 7 shots in the second half. Unfortunately, that was not enough for the Swedes, as the Stars would add another goal in the 74th minute of the game bringing the final score to 4-1.
