FOULS COME UP COSTLY FOR THE SWEDES

McPherson, Kan. - The Bethany College Men's Soccer team traveled down to McPherson, Kansas to match up against Central Christian College. 

Fouls were the determining factor to the Swedes 2-1 loss to Central Christian College. Two costly fouls in the box would be the difference in the game for the Swedes. Bethany College would finish the match with 14 fouls and 2 penalty kicks while Central Christian would finish with 10 fouls and 1 penalty kick. 

The Swedes offensively continued to build off their last win in the first half, taking 3 shots and 4 corner kicks while maintaining most possession of the half. Nothing was falling as it was a defensive game for both teams. At the 12:34 mark in the game, the Tigers would score on a penalty kick by Johnny Rodriguez to give them the lead going into the half. Junior goalkeeper, Jake Goldstein, had 1 save in the first half and would finish with 6 on the game. Central Christian had a decent offensive first half by taking 4 shots and 1 corner kick. On the defensive side goalkeeper, Sebastian Herrera, would have 1 save and would finish with 4 for the Tigers. 

In the second half the Swedes continued to press to tie up the match and would do so in the 64th minute. Sophomore, Josh Amador, scored the penalty kick for the Swedes to bring the match to 1-1.  It was a back and forth battle between the two squads in the half. The Swedes offensively would finish the match with 9 shots and 5 on target. Central Chrstian College exploded in the 2nd half, taking 12 shots and 4 on goal. Fouls hurt both teams in the half with the Tigers picking up 3 yellow cards and the Swedes picked up a yellow and a red card. The Swedes would yet again pick up another foul in the box in the 81st minute granting the Tigers their second goal on a penalty kick of the game. That would be the end of the game as the Tigers would go on to beat the Swedes 2-1.
