SWEDES COME UP SHORT TO CONCORDIA

Seward, Neb. - The Bethany College Men's Soccer team made the three hour trip up north to Nebraska to match up for a non-conference game against Concordia University. 

Both teams matched up perfectly in the first half. It was a back and forth battle between the two squads, but Concordia would apply the most pressure in the half. Offensively, the Bulldogs took 7 shots in the half while adding 2 corner kicks. The Swedes defense was impressive all game long not allowing any of the Bulldog's shots to find the net. For the Swedes, they mainly defended as they were only able to take 1 shot in the half. The Swedes strong defense was contributed by stellar play from Joshua Momodu, Nathan Asiedu, Angel Silva and Benito Ausley. Going into the second half the match was all tied up a 0-0. 

For the first 10 minutes of the second half, the trends continued as both teams played evenly. In the 55th minute of the game, the Bulldogs sent a long ball into the box when freshman Angel Silva was called for a handball giving the Bulldogs a chance at a penalty kick. Carlos Orquiz lined up for the kick and was able to score giving Concordia the 1-0 lead. The Swedes were still fighting hard in the game as shortly after the goal Angel Silva crossed the ball to sophomore Abraham Arrieta as he was able to head it in, but questionably was called for offside and the goal did not count. Concordia was able to add another goal in the 73rd minute off a free kick that hit off the post and deflected back in by Matt Schultz giving Concordia the final 2-0 lead.
