SWEDES WIN AND CLINCH A SPOT IN PLAYOFFS

Kansas City, Miss. - The Bethany College Men's Soccer team traveled to Kansas City to match up against Avila University for the final game of the regular season. 

The Swedes waited until the last game of the regular season to pick up their first win on the road. It was the most important win on the season, with the victory the Swedes clinched a playoff spot as an 8 seed. 

In the first half there was not much action as the half would end all tied up at 0-0. In the half, the Swedes took 8 shots while Avila took 6. Jake Goldstien would get his third clean sheet on the season saving 6 of 6 shots on goals in the match. There were opportunities for both teams to score but nothing able to get past both keepers. 

In the second half, the Swedes were finally able to get on the board when Rhajneil Brown put back a ball off a reflection in the 48th minute of the match. That would be his 5th goal on the season, and the Swedes would  not be done scoring. In the 81st minute of the match senior Carlos Zamora, would get his 2nd goal on the year from a throw-in by Shaid Mclean. The ball bounced around in the box and Carlos was able to sneak it past the keeper to put the Swedes ahead 2-0. Just 4 minutes later the Swedes would add another goal from a corner kick. Shahid Mclean would take the corner and find Steven McQueen for the header. The Swedes would go on to win the game by the final score of 3-0. With that win the Swedes were able to punch their ticket into the KCAC Tournament for the first time since 2017.
