Winfield, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Men's Soccer Team traveled down to Winfield, Kansas to face off against the Southwestern College Moundbuilders.
Bethany was able to start off aggressively as Tahj Reid would take the first shot attempt just 70 seconds into the match. Southwestern did not back down, as they were able to get the ball down the field and attempt two shots over the next 77 seconds. The Moundbuilders would score first in the 6th minute off an excellent lob that set up the goal. The Swedes would not seem fazed by the goal as Bethany would stay on the attack and eventually tie it up in the 20th minute by way of an impressive Tahj Reid goal where Reid saved the ball from going out of bounds, split two defenders, and shot around a third squeaking the ball past the goalie. This goal was Reid second in as many games. Neither team would add to the scoreboard before the half, so both teams would go into the break tied 1-1.
The second half was a bit chippy as both teams received a handful of yellow cards. The lone goal of the period was in the 63rd minute where the Moundbuilders scored off a ricocheted shot to go up 2-1. Bethany would do all they could do, but was ultimately unable to even the score before the 90th minute. The Swedes would fall 2-1.
Tahj Reid would lead the Swedes in shot attempts with 5. Reid tied Josh Amador and Alberto Rodriguez in shots on goal with 2. Jake Goldstein remained in-goal for the entire match recording 6 saves.
