LINDSBORG, KAN. – The Bethany College Swedes Men's Soccer team hosted the Bethel College Threshers in the Swedes conference opener. In a contest that showcased the competitive spirit of collegiate soccer, the Swedes were unable to overcome the Threshers.
The match saw several noteworthy performances, including Jarit Mejia's standout moment as he scored his first goal of the season. Mejia's goal was a testament to his determination and skill while providing a glimmer of hope for the Swedes amidst a challenging game.
Bethany's goalkeeper, Jake Goldstein, demonstrated exceptional resilience throughout the evening making an impressive total of six saves. Goldstein's presence in the goal was instrumental in limiting the Thresher's offensive opportunities as Bethel attempted 19 total shots (11 on goal).
In a match that saw intense competition, it is worth noting that a total of ten penalty cards were shown. All cards were presented in the second half of the contest. The commitment to fair play and sportsmanship remained evident despite the intensity of the match.
