SWEDES FALL IN SMOKY HILL RIVALRY

LINDSBORG, KAN. – The Bethany College Men's Soccer Team started their final two-game homestand with a rivalry for the ages against the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes.

Jorge Horta would start off the night with a shot that would miss high. The Coyotes would try to strike back with a few shots, but only one was on goal and was saved by starting goalie Jake Goldstein. Tahj Reid looked to put the Swedes on the board first with a fast break, but would just miss wide left. Kansas Wesleyan would score first in the 13th minute and then again in the 36th minute. The Coyotes would lead 2-0 going into the break.

It would take long for the Coyotes to add to their lead and their striker would complete a hat trick. In the 67th minute, Benito Ausley would steal the ball from the Coyotes and pass it to Tinotenda Sabau who would then pass it forward to Fernando Villaseca. Villaseca placed the ball in front of Tahj Reid who would shoot it past the goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season. Wesleyan would tie one more on via penalty kick before the final horn would sound resulting in the Swedes falling 4-1 to the Coyotes.

Tahj Reid would be the lone Swedes to attempt multiple shots on the evening. Jake Goldstein would tally 11 saves on 15 shots on goal.
