MEN WIN, WOMEN TIE VS GOLDEN EAGLES

Lindsborg, Kan. - On March 6, the Swedes hosted the visitors from John Brown University at the Lindquist Tennis Center on Bethany College Campus.

To start the day in doubles, the Swedes came out prepared and were able to sweep the doubles points in very competitive matches. For the men, Fran Bravo (SO) & Martin Priban (JR) picked up a 6-2 win at #1, Sebastian Stipanov (JR) & Gustavo Cardoso (FR) won 6-4 at #2, and Diego Bsereni (JR) & Dylan Gwilt won in tiebreaker, 7-4. On the Women's side, Sofia Castillo Paz (SR) & Helen Harbit (JR) won 6-2 at #1, Kyla Metro and Makenna Russom, both Seniors, won 6-4 at #2, and two freshmen, Elise Richardson & Elena Jundt, won 6-2 at #3.

In singles, things remained competitive. The women picked up wins at #3 (K. Metro, 4 &1), and #5 (E. Richardson, 2&0). The rain cancelled the #6 match (E. Jundt), leading to a 3-3 draw for the women. The men continued their sweep, eventually picking up a 5-0 win before weather finished the day. Wins were had at #1 (Seb. Stipanov, 1&2), #2 (M. Priban, 6-4, 3-6, 10-3), #3 (G. Cardoso, 2&1), and #4 (D. Bsereni, 4,0).

"I'm happy with our teams today. I think we still have some polishing to do, especially in important points, but as a whole we played well. A couple third setters didn't go our way this time, otherwise this is about as good as it can be in these conditions. We'll get to continue to sharpen ourselves against good players tomorrow, and we should know a little more about ourselves then. Quick turnaround for our students!" said Coach DeWitt after the weather arrived.

The Swedes travel to Edmond, OK tomorrow to face off against Texas A&M-Texarkana and Texas Wesleyan University. Go Swedes!
