SWEDES EARN CLEAN SWEEP OVER THE BULLDOGS

Lindsborg, Kan.- The Bethany College Swedes hosted the McPherson College Bulldogs in a weekday double header, Wednesday, April 17^th at 1pm. The Swedes swept the Bulldogs taking both games by a single run and shutting out McPherson.

Game 1: A bit of an unexciting start to Game 1 as both teams weren't able to get hot until the bottom of the 4^th inning where Ulissa Rivas hit a double to left field, earning an RBI and bringing home Tamia Butler. This would be the only run in the game and the final score would be 1-0 in favor of the Swedes.

Dylann Baker in the circle for Bethany faced 25 batters and threw 56 strikes out of 71 pitches and threw a shutout game.

Game 2:  Similar to Game 1, there was little excitement for most of the game with both teams keeping the other from scoring. It wasn't until the bottom of the 6^th inning did, the Swedes managed to get their offense going. Tamia Butler singled to the catcher who wasn't able to make the throw to first base in time which allowed Destiny Espinosa to reach home plate, scoring the only run of the game. Final score was 1-0 in favor of the Swedes.

Lilliana Martinez started on the mound for Game 2 and faced 27 batters and threw 80 strikes out of 111 pitches and also threw a shutout game to give the Swedes a clean Sweep for the day.
