Bio

Apdiel Vazquez was named the Interim Head Softball Coach at Bethany College in July 2021.

Previous Experience

Vazquez worked as an assistant softball coach at Bethany College for three seasons. He was the top assistant for the softball program his last two seasons including the Swedes historic run to the NAIA Softball World Series Final Four in 2021. As an assistant coach, Vazquez served as the teams Hitting Coach, Infield Coach, First Base Coach, and Catchers Coach. He also been the programs Head JV Coach.

In his time on staff Vazquez has helped to mentor student-athletes who have been named the KCAC Co-Player of the Year, KCAC Freshman of the Year, three KCAC First Team selections, three KCAC Second Team selections, four KCAC Honorable Mention selections, and one KCAC Gold Glove winner. He has also seen three student-athletes earn NFCA NAIA All-Region recognition, two NAIA Softball World Series All-Tournament Team members, and one CoSIDA Academic All District selection.

Prior to beginning his coaching career Vazquez was a three year member of the Bethany College baseball team where he was the team's starting catcher his junior and senior seasons. Known for his defensive prowess Vazquez had a stellar career .988 fielding percentage.
