Swedes Secure Win For Conference Opener Against KWU

The Swedes secured their first conference win of the season for the season opener Wednesday night in a tight game against the Coyotes. 

Going into halftime the Swedes had a 30-28 lead as Emily Weathers scored 12 of her 14 points before half.

In that first half, Autumn Garrett, the team's leading scorer, had not taken a shot while R'Manie Pulling and Kisa Unruh added six points each. 

 Autumn Garrett scored her 13 points in the second half with 1 rebound and 1 assist. Leading goal scorer for this game was R'Maine Pulling with a total of 18 points and 1 rebound. Leading rebounder for the team was Kennedy Becker with a total of 8 rebounds and 6 points. Emily Weathers with her 14 points scored also had 7 rebounds for the Swedes. 

 As a team, the Swedes shot 52 percent from the field, 27 of 52, while they held the Coyotes to 34 percent, 23 of 68. For the first two quarters of the game both teams stayed pretty neck and neck as the coyotes held the lead 17-15 at the end of the first quarter. The Swedes then held the lead at the end of the second quarter 30-28. The third quarter is when the Swedes took the lead with a score of 56-45 as the Swedes sank three 3-point shots in this quarter. The Swedes held their lead in the fourth and final quarter securing the win for the conference opener against Kansas Wesleyan 74 to 64.
