SWEDES CRUISE TO 5TH STRAIGHT CONFERENCE WIN; ROLL PAST THRESHERS

Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Women's Basketball Team secured their fifth straight conference win over the Bethel College Threshers Wednesday night.

By halftime, the Swedes were up 36-27. Emily Weathers led the first half charge with 10 points followed closely by R'Manie Pulling with eight.

The third period was a tightly contested frame as both teams would put up 20+ points, but the Swedes would outscore the Threshers by one (25-24) to increase the lead to double-digits.

In the final quarter of play, Bethany would run away with the game outscoring Bethel 25-17 for a final score of 86-68. In the final period, Kisa Unruh would light it up from downtown going 3-for-3 from behind the arc.

Emily Weathers would lead the Swedes in scoring with 24 points. R'Manie Pulling and Kisa Unruh would also drop double-digits on the night with 18 and 12, respectively. Kylie Dunn would lead the team in assists with 4. Emily Green and Pulling would each grab five boards. Lauren Gleason would tally three steals on the evening as Angie Lopez and Dunn would each record to blocks.

As a team, the Swedes would make over half of their shot attempts (31-54, 57.4%) including going 6-for-10 from three-point range. Bethany would also shoot 90% from the free throw line as all percentages were season-highs as a team.

The Swedes would outscore the Threshers in bench points at a clip of 26 to 17. Every player from the Bethany bench scored in the contest.

Up Next…

The women's basketball team has a meeting with the Friends University Falcons on Saturday, January 14^th. This will be the lone matchup between the two teams this season. Currently, Bethany sits second in the conference standings and Friends sits just a game behind in third. Tipoff is set for 5pm in Hahn Gymnasium.
