SWEDES SECURE 8TH STRAIGHT WIN IN A ROW

Lindsborg, Kan. – On Monday January 23rd the Bethany College Swedes Women's Basketball Team kept their win streak alive against the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles.

The Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles scored first sinking a 3-pointer is the 9th minute but the Swedes quickly responded with Emily Weathers scoring a jump shot 20 seconds after. The Swedes battled against the Eagles ending the score 16 to 17 trailing the Eagles. In the second quarter the Eagles scored first yet again but the Swedes were able to defend well allowing them to slow down the scoring of the game. The Eagles fouled in the 7th minute allowing the Swedes to be within one point of the Eagles again. The Swedes were able to secure the lead 33 to 31 at the end of the half. 

The Swedes started off the third quarter strong as Kisa Unruh sank a 3-pointer early in the 9th minute. The Swedes ended the quarter 48 to 57 securing a 9-point lead. The Swedes remained strong to start off the fourth quarter with a layup from Sarah Reiner. The Swedes were able to secure the win 68 to 79 against the Eagles. 

Leading scorer for the Swedes was Emily Weathers with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Leading rebounder with 10 rebounds and second leading scorer with 18 points was Lauren Gleason. R'Maine Pulling and Autumn Garrett also made it into the double digits with scoring 10 points each. Field Goal percentage for the Swedes was 50.8% compared to the Eagles 41.7%. 3-point percentage for the Swedes was 50% compared to the Eagles 31.6%. The Eagles had 31 rebounds compared to the Swedes 34 rebounds. Additionally, the Swedes had 20assits and 19 points off turnovers compared to the Eagles 12 assists and 11 points off turnovers.
