SWEDES FALL TO TOP SEED WARRIORS

Sterling, KS... 

Wednesday night the Bethany College Women's Basketball Team took on the Sterling College Warriors. The Warriors ended the Swedes win streak by securing a 72 to 49 win for the Warriors. 

The Warriors made the first shot with a layup early in the first quarter but Sarah Reiner quickly responded. The Swedes remained neck and neck with the Warriors until the last minute of the first quarter when Kali Briar for the Warriors stuck a 3-pointer securing a lead for the Warriors 16-11. Sarah Reiner scored 4 points for the Swedes this quarter with Emily Green leading in rebounds with 3. In the second quarter the Warriors quickly began to solidify their lead against the Swedes. The Swedes scored a total of 11 points in the second half with 5 of those scored by Martina Aeschliman while the Warriors scored a total of 22. 

Starting the second the Warriors quickly sank a jump shot where Autumn Garrett quickly responded sinking a 3-pointer.  From there the Warriors continued to solidify their lead ending the third quarter 57-30 giving the Warriors a 27-point lead over the Swedes. Going into the fourth and final quarter of the game the Swedes were unable to make a comeback allowing the Warriors to sweep the game. R'Maine pulling secured a 3-point jump shot in the beginning of the quarter quickly followed by a 3-pointer secured by Martina Aeschliman. Martina Aeschliman secured another 3-pointer in the 8th minute of the quarter. In the fourth minute of the quarter R'Maine Pulling secured yet another 3-pointer. The Swedes defense was not enough to stop the Warriors from taking away the lead. Ending the game 72 Warriors- 49 Swedes. 

Making it into the double digits and leading scorer for the Swedes, Martina Aeschliman with 11 points. Following closely behind was R'Maine Pulling with 10 points. Leading rebounder for the Swedes Lauren Gleason had a total of 5 rebounds quickly followed behind by R'Maine Pulling and Emily Green each with 4. Field Goal percentage for the Swedes was 30.2% compared to Sterling's 54.0%. Bethany had a total of 27 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 points off of turnovers. Sterling had a total of 31 rebounds, 17 assist and 9 turnovers.

The Swedes hit the road again to face off against the Tabor Blue jays where they hope to secure a win. Tipoff will be at 5pm in Hillsboro, KS.
