SWEDES UNLUCKY AGAINST TABOR BLUEJAYS

Hillsboro, KS... Saturday night the Bethany College Women's Basketball Team traveled to Hillsboro, KS where they took on the Tabor College Blue Jays. 

The Blue Jays started off the game strong sinking a 3-pointer in the first 30 seconds of the quarter. The Blue Jays managed to secure another 6 points on the board before the Swedes were able to sink their first bucket of the game. Emily Weathers secured the jump shot in the 7th minute. The Swedes were only able to secure one more shot from Kylie Dunn in the first quarter. The Blue Jays pulled away with the lead finishing the first quarter 24 to 4. Bethany started off the second quarter strong with Kylie Dunn sinking a 3-pointer early on. The Swedes continued to battle it out against the Blue Jays slowly racking up points and keeping Tabor from scoring again until the 6th minute. The second quarter ended 21 to 32 with the Tabor Blue Jays still holding a 10 point plus lead against the Swedes. 

The Blue Jays came out strong again the third quarter starting off with yet another 3-pointer. Kylie Dunn responded in the 6th minute securing a 3-pointer for the Swedes. Ending the third quarter the Blue Jays still held the lead 51 to 37. In the fourth and final quarter the Swedes were able to sink some jump shots and free throws but were unlucky in making a comeback against the Blue Jays. Tabor defeated Bethany 61 to 51. 

Emily Weathers led the Swedes in points today with a total of 18, double of Kylie Dunn who was the second leading scorer with 9 points. Emily Weathers also had the most rebounds of the Swedes with 7. Lauren Gleason followed closely behind with 6 rebounds. R'Maine Pulling had 3 assists for the game. Field Goal percentage for the Swedes was 35.4% compared to the Blue Jays 47.2%. Bethany had 25 rebounds, 7 assists and 20 points off of turnovers compared to Tabor's 30 rebounds, 13 assists and 14 points off turnovers.

The Swedes will face off against the York College Panthers on Wednesday February 8th in Hahn Gymnasium with a 6pm tipoff.
