SWEDES DRIVE PAST DROVERS IN 61-51 VICTORY

Lindsborg, Kan.- The Bethany College Swedes hosted the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers, Tuesday, November 5th, in a weekday matchup. Tipoff was scheduled for 4pm in Hahn Gymnasium. The Swedes maintained control throughout the first half, had a slow 3rd quarter but finished strong and came out with the win, 61-51.

1st: Quick start for the Drovers who lead the Swedes by four, 0-4 with 8:17 on the clock before Bethany took control about a minute later, 5-4 with 7:16 left to play in the first quarter. The Swedes continued to push their lead which was extended to seven, 11-4, with just over five minutes left to play. Drovers quickly cut the lead down and were back within three with 4:02 on the clock. Once again Bethany hit a couple of shots to add to their advantage, 17-13, but the Drovers hung in there with less than a minute to play in the quarter hitting a successful field goal to put them within one possession of the Swedes. Heading into the second quarter, Swedes were up two, 17-15.

2nd: Unfortunately for the Drovers, the second quarter would prove to be difficult as the Swedes hit their stride and would go on to score another 17 points before half to their 9 additional points. Just under halfway through the second quarter, Bethany led 25-15 after the Drovers continued to suffer a scoring drought which lasted until 2:19 left to play, score was 34-16. The scored going into halftime was 34-24, Swedes up by ten.

3rd: Coming out of the half, Bethany struggled much like the Drovers in the second quarter, only scoring 9 points to the Drovers' 17 points. With 4:15 left to play in the 3rd quarter, Drovers were once again within one possession of the Swedes, 39-36. The Swedes held onto their lead and were able to make a couple of critical shots when they were needed the most. The score going into the 4th quarter, Swedes-43, Drovers-41.

4th: Within the first minute of play, the Drovers had the game tied at 43-43. The Swedes continued to hit critical shots at critical times and would keep the Drovers from taking the lead until they were able to extend their lead. Swedes win by ten, 61-51.

Notable stats include, Janae Black-Harmon with 12 rebounds, 3 steals, 5 assists, and 10 points, Kylie Dunn with 3 assists, 1 block, 2 steals, and 12 points, and Jaden Newfarmer with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.
