Michael “Mickey” DeVries joined the Bethany College Athletic Department in June 2023 as the Bethany College Swedes Women’s Basketball Team’s Assistant Coach before transitioning to the Head Women's Basketball Coach in May 2026.

DeVries has spent the past three seasons as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach for the Swedes. He has been actively involved in player development, scouting, recruitment, and game planning. In the past three seasons, the Swedes have finished 5th, 7th, and 6th, respectively, in the very competitive Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference that sent four women's basketball teams to the NAIA National Tournament for the 2025-26 season.

Before Bethany, Mickey was the head girls’ basketball coach and Assistant Athletic Director at SkyView Academy in Highlands Ranch, Colo. from 2015-2023. DeVries coached there for 7 years winning a conference championship in 2019 and district championship in 2022.

Towards the end of his time at SkyView Academy, Mickey became the Assistant Athletic Director for 2 years.

Prior to his time at SkyView, Mickey worked for the Grand Rapids Drive, which is a G-League basketball team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While with the Drive, DeVries assisted with Basketball Operations.

Mickey DeVries has obtained his bachelor’s in Kinesiology from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Mich.
