SECOND HALF GOAL SINKS SWEDES
Hillsboro, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Women's Soccer Team took a trip to Hillsboro, Kansas to take on the Tabor College Bluejays in a conference match.
Skyler Armstrong opened the match with a shot less than two minutes in that just missed to the right. The Bluejays were able to flip the field quickly scoring on their first shot of the contest making it 1-0 in the 3rd minute of the match.
After some time to regroup, the Swedes went on the attack again. From the 50-yard line, Andrea Garza would send a through ball ahead to Skyler Armstrong who would then chip in the ball over the goalkeeper's head for the score that would tie it up 1-1 with 23:02 left to play in the first half. The Bluejays would try to answer back before the half, but would not be able to get the ball past goalie Mackenzie Nutter as Tabor shot 5 times (4 on-goal) with Nutter recording 4 saves.
Tabor would waste no time in the second half as they would score again with an impressive shot from the left wing that curved in out of the reach of the goalie. The Bluejays would do their best to apply pressure and fortify their lead, but second-half goalie Molly Atchley was not having it putting the stop to all Tabor shots after the opening goal. Unfortunately, the Swedes were unable to even it up before the half as Tabor would take this one 2-1.
Mackenzie Nutter drew the start in-goal recording 6 saves on the evening. Not to be outdone, Molly Atchley stepped in at the half tallying 11 saves on the evening.
Skyler Armstrong scored the lone goal for the Swedes with two total shots (1 on goal).
