SWEDES ROLL PAST BLUEJAYS

Lindsborg, Kan. - On March 10, the Swedes hosted the visiting Bluejays at the Lindquist Tennis Center on Bethany College Campus.

 

To start the day in doubles, the Swedes came out prepared and were able to sweep the doubles point. Both Women and Men picked up wins at all three spots: #1 Sofia Castillo Paz (SR)/Helen Harbit (JR), #2 Kyla Metro (SR)/Makenna Russom (SR), and #3 Karee Adam (SR)/Elise Richardson (FR) and #1 Fran Bravo (SO)/Martin Priban (JR), #2 Sebastian Stipanov (JR)/Gustavo Cardoso (FR), and #3 Diego Bsereni (JR)/Dylan Gwilt (SO). The men played an additional exhibition doubles match, also won by the Swedes (Santiago Stipanov, FR & Alejandro Rico Moran, SR).

 

In singles, the Swedes were able to continue their Sweep. The visitors were unable to collect a set on the day, although several matches were very tight. Final score for both teams was Swedes 7, Bluejays 0.

 

After matches, Coach DeWitt had this to say: "I was glad to see us come out ready to play. Tabor is well coached and scrappy, and they came ready. We were pushed throughout the day, and our students rose to the occasion. Especially after a tough set of matches yesterday, I'm glad we didn't overlook anyone. Tabor was tough, and they're going to surprise people. I think today was probably good for our psyche, as we've played a tough schedule and have some more tough ones coming up. Tomorrow we look to get healthier, and then get to see Friends at home. No rest for the weary!"

 

The Women rise to 2-0 in KCAC, 4-5-1 overall. The men go to 1-1 in KCAC, 5-6 overall.

 

The  Swedes compete next on Thursday, March 12 at home vs Friends University. Go Swedes!
