“TRIP WORTH IT!” SWEDES SWEEP VALOR

Springfield, Mo. – The Bethany College Swedes Tennis teams took the road to Springfield, Mo. to take on the Evangel University Valor.

The women took one of the three doubles matches. The #2 doubles team of Helen Harbit and Kyla Metro won their match 6-1. The men took the doubles point by winning two of the three contests. The #2 duo of Dylan Gwilt and Diego Bsereni won their match 7-6 (7-3) while the #3 team of Gustavo Cardoso and Santiago Stipanov won 6-0.

Entering singles down 0-1 on the road, the women had a slight disadvantage ahead of them. They would persevere to win the #1, #2, #4, and #6 single matches to take the contest 4-3. Ana Sofia Castillo Paz had the most entertaining match of the day winning 7-6 (7-0), 4-6, 7-6 (10-8).

For the men, the #2, #3, #4, #5, and #6 singles each won their matches enroute to a 6-1 finish to secure the sweep. Martin Priban (#2 single) had quite a match winning 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 1-0 (10-5).

The Swedes will have a week off before returning to the court, this time in Bartlesville, Okla. to take on the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles for the Swedes final regular season contest of the season. Play is set to begin on Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 PM.
