SWEDES FALL SHORT IN MATCHUP WITH FALCONS

Wichita, Kan. - The Bethany College Swedes Volleyball team traveled to Wichita, Kansas for a conference match up against the Friends University Falcons. The Swedes secured one set, losing the match in four sets. 

The Swedes started off competing early in the match. The Swedes were up in the first set but fell behind with a late 5-point streak by Friends, making the score 21-24. Despite losing the first set the Swedes put up a good fight, losing the set 22-25. The Swedes continued battling into the second set and came out on top, taking the set 25-18. The Swedes were unable to keep up the energy in the following sets, losing the third set 17-25 and dropping the fourth set 14-25.  

Alyssa George, junior outside hitter, led the offense of the Swedes scoring 11 points with 10 kills. Justice Brackney, senior middle blocker, also scored 11 points with 8 kills, 4 block assists, 1 solo block, and only 1 blocking error. Atlantis Jamerson scored 9 points and had a .263 kill percentage, 6 digs, a solo block, and 2 block assists. Sophomore defensive specialist, Cameron Boyd had 21 digs for the night.

The Swedes Volleyball team will have a chance for redemption this Saturday, October 8th at 1:00PM against the Southwestern College Jinx. The match will take place in Winfield, Kansas.
