Bio
Originally from Haleiwa, Hawaiʻi, DaMate brings a diverse background in collegiate athletics, coaching, and athletic communications. A former student-athlete, she competed in collegiate volleyball for three seasons at Iowa Wesleyan University before transferring to Southwestern College for her final year of eligibility. Following her playing career, she remained at Southwestern as a Graduate Assistant in the Sports Information and Game Day Management Department, where she gained valuable experience in athletic communications, statistical reporting, livestream production, event management, and fan engagement.
During her time as a graduate assistant, DaMate worked closely with coaches, administrators, and student-athletes while helping coordinate game day operations and creating content that highlighted the accomplishments of Southwestern's athletic programs. Her passion for athletics and relationship-building made her transition into coaching and sports information a natural fit.
DaMate's combination of playing experience, coaching background, and expertise in athletic communications will make her a valuable addition to the department, and the college looks forward to the impact she will have on its student-athletes and campus community. Along with her professional experience, she has coached club volleyball and remains committed to developing student athletes both on and off the court.
DaMate earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and recently completed her Master of Business Administration degree.
