DALA DOLLS COMPETE IN SOUTHWEST NAIA NATIONAL QUALIFIER

York, Neb. - The Bethany College Dance team, aka the "Dala Dolls", competed in York, Nebraska as part of the Southwest NAIA National Qualifier.

The National Qualifier determines which dance programs receive an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship. Currently we have 5 Regions that determine automatic berths in the nation. The rest of the teams that are invited to the NAIA National Championship are determined via the help of our national selection committee.

The Current NAIA Dance Selection Committee are currently comprised of head coaches, athletic directors, and NAIA Dance Resource Advisors. The Selection committee review recorded versions of performed routines throughout the week and rank teams based on the history of their performances for the season.

The Dala dolls have performed the second half of their season with 2 athletes and have been prepared to battle every competition. The NAIA currently imposes a 5-point deduction to teams that perform with less than 6 athletes on the floor. With that 5-point deduction, the Dala Dolls still managed to score 42.12 for the culmination of the competition. At the National Qualifier events, teams must perform twice with a preliminary round and a final round. The preliminary rounds are worth 25% of the score while the final performance is worth 75% of the final score.

The Dala Dolls were very impressive this season. While small they were very mighty. Junior Whitney Nightingale made 2nd team All-KCAC. While Freshman Jordan Russell, has become immensely popular throughout the conference. Due to Covid restrictions, Jordan was in an exceedingly rare situation where she had to perform by herself. Jordan is the consummate professional and an elite performer. The performance was a hit, and very well received by not only the judges, but also all the athletes and teams within the conference.
