Wichita, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes faced a challenging three-game road series over the weekend, competing hard but ultimately falling in all three contests. Despite the results, the Swedes saw several strong individual performances at the plate and on the mound.
GAME 1: SWEDES 3, FALCONS 17
Bethany struck early, scoring in each of the first, second, and fourth innings. Stephen Kent led the offense with a two-run home run, while Yan Ortiz added two hits and a run scored. Manny Gonzalez also drove in a run as the Swedes totaled five hits in the contest.
GAME 2: SWEDES 4, FALCONS 11
The Swedes showed fight late, scoring four runs in the final two innings. Jack Crain delivered a key pinch-hit RBI double, while Melvin Laracuente added a hit and RBI. Stephen Kent and Yan Ortiz each recorded hits, continuing their steady production at the plate.
GAME 3: SWEDES 1, FALCONS 13
Bethany was limited offensively in the final game but still found contributions throughout the lineup. Jesuel Cruz scored the lone run and added a hit, while Jack Crain and Yan Ortiz each contributed base knocks. On the mound, Wesly Martinez turned in a strong relief outing with 3.1 scoreless innings and five strikeouts, helping stabilize the middle innings.
Throughout the weekend, players like Ortiz and Kent provided consistency at the plate, while the Swedes continued to show resilience despite adversity.
