BURNETTE’S SPECTACULAR TD CATCH NOT ENOUGH; SWEDES FALL TO BULLDOGS

Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Football Team hosted the McPherson College Bulldogs for homecoming, but was unable to get the win falling 53-6.

In the second quarter, the Swedes would capitalize on a muffed punt by the Bulldogs immediately as Brock Burnette would jump over and "moss" two McPherson defenders for a spectacular touchdown catch to put the Swedes on the board.

On the following drive for McPherson, Jaylin Talbott would intercept a pass and return it 7 yards for the first Bulldog turnover. The second turnover would come on the succeeding McPherson drive as the quarterback would fumble the handoff and Braydon Pratt would recover the loose ball.

In the third quarter, Keanu Ebesu would step in front of a Bulldog pass attempt for another interception for the Swedes. In the final period, Chartez Wiley would record a strip sack and Luke Krajicek would recover the fumble for the final turnover on the day.

Alec Giragosian and Peyton Mainolfi would spilt reps throughout the contest, but Giragosian would get the start and throw for 133 yards and one touchdown. Brock Burnette would lead the receiving corps with 5 receptions for 61 yards and one touchdown.

For the defense, Jaylin Talbott would tally 12 total tackles including a team leading 8 solo tackles. Chartez Wiley would record the lone sack for the Swedes which also resulted in a turnover for the Bulldogs.

As a team, the Swedes defense forced 6 turnovers (3 fumbles, 2 ints, & 1 turnover on downs). The offense would record 130 total yards on offense.

The Swedes Football team will stay home for another week as Bethany will host Friends University on Saturday, October 29. Kickoff is set to begin at 1pm.
