SWEDES FALL TO BRAVES ON SENIOR NIGHT

Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Football Team fell to the Ottawa University Braves at home to finish the season 0-10.

The defense played their part, but the offense was unable to finish drives. In the first quarter, Connor Payomo would intercept a pass and return it 78 yards to the Braves' 2-yard line, but the ball was placed on the 1-yard line due to penalty. Bethany would turn the ball over on downs on the following possession.

That did not faze the defense as Jaylin Talbott, a senior defensive back, was able to get in the backfield on the first play of the succeeding drive to record a safety and put two on the board.

To begin the second half, Khyree Marshall would pick off a pass and show off the footwork on the sideline to force another turnover in favor of Bethany.

Alec Giragosian would start at quarterback for the Swedes and go 9 for 27 with 69 yards through the air. Josiah Hardrick would lead the Bethany ground attack with 45 yards on 11 carries. Zeke Mumford recorded one rush for 35 yards on a fake punt. Brock Burnette led the receiving unit with 5 catches for 57 yards.

Connor Payomo would lead the game in tackles with 16, 14 of those tackles being solo. Calvin Jeans recorded the lone sack for Bethany, but the Swedes would tally 8 tackles for loss. Keanu Ebesu forced one pass breakup.

The Swedes would muster up 149 yards of total offense. Compared to Ottawa, Bethany played ball a little bit cleaner as the Swedes would receive five penalties for 44 yards compared to the Braves' seven penalties for 91 yards
