Lindsborg, Kan. - The Bethany men got double figure scoring from all five starters and defeated the Warriors 94-76 to win their third straight KCAC contest.
Sterling was quick to make a layup in the first ten seconds of the game. However the Swedes quickly got on the board with a three pointer made by Jah-kez Moore. The men continued to play a close game, leading 32-29 with 2:22 left in the first half before pulling away to a 40-31 advantage just prior to halftime. Four minutes into the second half the Warriors crawled within one, 44-43, but a 16-7 run gave the Swedes a 60-48 cushion. Bethany built on that lead until the Warriors were forced to foul.
Coach O'Dowd got double digits scored from each of his starters, Solomon Clayton scored 20 points as well as having 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Justin Brookens followed suit with 17 points and had 7 assists. Malcolm Clayton, Dylan Smith, and Jah-kez Moore each scored 14 points. But it was the play of Moore, a 6'5 senior that drew the most compliments from his coach. "Kez did a nice job," O'Dowd said. "I think it's his best game since he's been here at both ends of the floor so I was really happy for him." Coach O'Dowd also spoke on Kobe Krajnc saying "even though he got in foul trouble, he was a big body and gave us some good minutes in there and made it tough on them at their end of the floor."
Bethany shot an even 50 percent (31-62) keeping the Warriors to 34.3 shooting percentage (23-67). From downtown the Swedes made 8 of 17 while the Warriors made 8 of 25. The Swedes had an 82.8 shooting percentage from the free throw line and had 15 points from the bench.
