SWEDES COME BACK FROM BEHIND TO DEFEAT THE WARRIORS

Sterling, Kan. - The Bethany College men's basketball team traveled to Sterling College for the second matchup of the 22'-23' season. The Swedes came back from behind to complete the sweep against the Warriors, with the final score of 71-61. 

The Warriors and the Swedes were competing the entire game, having 7 ties and 3 lead changes. The Swedes were down by 8 in the second half with 10:58 left on the clock. Bethany switched gears with the help of 4 free throws made by Solomon Clayton followed by a layup, making the score 46-50. Dylan Smith stepped in with a layup followed by a jump shot made by Justin Brookens, tying the game up at 50. 

The Swedes continued the run with a good three pointer by Brookens, a good free throw as well as a jumpshot.The 14 point run that put the Swedes up was enough momentum for the Swedes to finish victorious 71-61.  

Solomon Clayton recorded his sixth double-double of the season scoring 27 points and collecting 11 rebounds. Justin Brookens scored 17 points on the night, 2 steals, and an assist. Dylan Smith scored 15 points on the night while having 5 steals. 

Bethany had a shooting percentage of 40.6 compared to Sterling's shooting percentage of 35.0. The Swedes forced 14 turnovers on the Warriors and converted 14 points from those turnovers. The Swedes had the advantage on the glass scoring 30 points compared to Sterlings 18 points.

The Bethany's Men Basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, February 4th. The Swedes will take a roadtrip to Hillsboro to compete against Tabor College Bluejays, tip off is scheduled for 7:00PM.
