SWEDES UNABLE TO OVERCOME BLUEJAYS

Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Men's Basketball team played host to the Tabor College Bluejays Saturday, January 13th.

Over the first 12 minutes of the contest, there was plenty of back-and-forth between the two clubs resulting in 6 lead changes and 5 ties. Over the final 8 minutes of the first half, the Bluejays would outscore the Swedes by 10 to enter the break up 46-36.

Tabor would come out hot in the second half building up a 23-point lead, but Bethany would start to pull it together with a 16-2 run to cut the deficit back down to single digits. Unfortunately, The Swedes would seem to run out of gas as the Bluejays would go on to win this one 88-66.

Jamal Frenchwood would lead the Swedes in scoring with a team-high 18 points including 4 three-pointers. Frenchwood would also rack up team-highs in rebounds (8) and assists (3). Keondae Johnson would also add in 3 assists on the night. Noah Simiskey, JD Carson, and Kobe Samake Krajnc would each nab 2 steals apiece.

As a team, Bethany would shoot a better field goal percentage going 47.5% from the floor compared to the season average 39%. Turnovers doomed the Swedes as they would commit 19 which led to 25 points for the Bluejays.

The Swedes have a trip to York, Nebraska on Wednesday, January 17th. York (4-5 KCAC; 6-9 overall) is coming off an 85-69 loss to Kansas Wesleyan University and will look to make up their game with McPherson College from January 13th. The Swedes will look to climb up the standing with a win Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 7:00 PM CT.
