Rapid City, S.D. – The Bethany College Swedes Men's Basketball team opened a challenging two-game exhibition road trip with an 89-69 loss to Division II foe, the South Dakota School of Mines Hardrockers in Rapid City, S.D.
The Swedes would compete early as they would take the lead via a Jordan Reams jumpshot with 12 minutes left in the first half, but the Hardrockers would use efficient shooting and a strong interior presence to build separation. Ultimately, the Swedes would fall 89-69.
Keddric Mays II led the way for the Swedes with 18 points followed closely by David Mitchell with 16 points including a perfect three-for-three from beyond the arc. Berrian Delinois scored 10 off the bench. Daniel Bennett reeled in five rebounds and blocked three shots on the evening. Milton Kpehe nabbed a team-high four steals.
Bethany would connect on nine three-pointers in the contest, but would only shoot 39.7% from the floor and 50% from the free throw line. The rebounding differential played a huge part in the loss as the Swedes were outrebounded by the Hardrockers 50-22.
