SWEDES END IN DRAW AGAINST TABOR COLLEGE

SWEDES END IN DRAW AGAINST TABOR COLLEGE

Lindsborg, Kan. - The Bethany College Men's Soccer team hosted Tabor College on Wednesday night.

It was an overall great matchup between both teams as the final score finished in a tie at 1-1. With the tie it brings the Swedes conference record to 3-4-2 and Tabor College to 4-4-2.

In the first half, Tabor College maintained most possession and were able to apply pressure to the Swedes defenders. Just missing a few shots on goal, Tabor took 7 in the half with 4 corner kicks. Stellar defense by the Swedes keeper, Jake Goldstien, picked up 2 saves and kept the Blue Jays off the board in the first half. The Swedes offense tried to find their groove but could not make anything of it, only taking 2 shots in the half. The Swedes looked to force too many passes and the Blue Jays defenders were right there to take the ball away. Not much action happened in the first half going into halftime with the score remaining 0-0.

In the second half, the Swedes were able to make adjustments to allow for them to attack more on offense. In the half the Swedes took 8 shots with Inigo Frenandez and Tahj Reid barely missing the net a couple times. The Blue Jays keeper, Jesus Rondon had 4 saves in the half as the Swedes kept testing him in the box. On the counter attack late in the match, Jonathan Davis scored the first goal for Tabor as they were finally able to get on the board in the 75th minute. The Swedes did not let that get them down, just 5 minutes later in the 80th minute Benito Ausley connected with Abraham Arrieta to bring the match all tied up at 1-1. The crowd went wild and the energy in the stadium was electric. Following the momentum, the Swedes had another chance at scoring a goal when Rhajneil Brown broke through the defenders to take the shot just barely outside the right post. That goal would have given the Swedes the victory, but will take what they got and end the match in a draw.
