LATE GAME ACTION TOO MUCH FOR SWEDES TO OVERCOME

Yankton, SD – The Bethany College Swedes Women's Soccer Team took the road to Yankton, South Dakota to face the Mount Marty University Lancers in the Swedes final non-conference matchup of the year, but would fall 2-1.

The first half would yield plenty of shots, but nothing to show for them as both teams would enter the second half tied 0-0. In the second half, the Lancers would find the back of the net first by way of a penalty kick in the 61^st minute. Jysell Sampedro would score her second goal of the season assisted by Jacqueline Escalera in the 82^nd minute to even the score, but Mount Marty would answer right back four minutes later with a goal of their own. The Swedes would fail to find a quick answer to the goal and fall 2-1.

Jacqueline Escalera would lead the attack with three shots; two on goal. Mackenzie Nutter would get the nod to protect the Swedes' goal and tally 5 saves on the night.

Bethany will open up conference play in Sterling, Kansas to take on the Sterling College Warriors. Kickoff is set for 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 13.
