SWEDES COME FROM BEHIND TO WIN 9-8; AND TAKE SERIES 3-1.
Austin Tex. - Game 4 of the series saw a come from behind victory for the Swedes as they nabbed the lead late in the game to win 9-8 over Huston-Tillotson University on Sunday.
In the first inning, the Swedes got their offense started off with a lead off double by Noel Perez. Later in the inning Alexander Cuevas doubled, scoring Noel Perez and Caleb Rodriguez. Luis Ramos would join in on hitting doubles as he got his own double in the inning scoring Alexander Cuevas to give the Swedes an early 3-0 lead.
Swedes earned the victory despite allowing Huston-Tillotson University to score five runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by Huston-Tillotson University was led by Noah Alvarez, Manny Melchor, Myles Wiltz, Adam Sheehan, and Josh Wilk, who all drove in runs for the Rams.
In the top of the sixth inning, Swedes got the bats going when Luis Ramos doubled to start the inning. Randy Good would pinch hit with two outs and draw a walk to get runners on second and first. Willard Frizzell came in as a pinch hitter and hit a single to center field to bring in curtose runner Judd McCall to bring the game within one with runners on third and first for the Swedes. The next batter was Noel Perez and he singled on a 1-2 count, to score Payton Walk and tie up the game at 6-6.
In the top half of the seventh inning, Caleb Rodriguez started off the inning with a leadoff single. Andrew Massey came in as a courtesy runner for Rodgiruez and would come around to score off another double by Luis Ramos. With Ramos on second base, freshman Connor Crayton steps up to the plate and hits a moon-shot for his first collegiate home run. This gave the Swedes a 9-6 lead going into the bottom half of the seventh inning.
Jacob Mallozzi was the winning pitcher for the Swedes. The righty lasted three innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out three and walking one. Edwardo Vasquez threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Vasquez recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Swedes.
Swedes racked up 12 hits in the game. Luis Ramos and Noel Perez each collected multiple hits for Swedes. Ramos led the Swedes with four hits (3 doubles) in four at bats. The Swedes were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
