SWEDES DROP SERIES AGAINST TABOR COLLEGE

Lindsborg, Kan. - The Bethany College Baseball team hosted Tabor College for the final game of the mid-week series. Unfortunately the Swedes would lose the series matchup 2-1 after losing game 3 on Tuesday by the score of 8-3. The Swedes conference record stands 7-19 and with the win improves Tabor's record to 17-9.  

Early on in the game it was a pitchers dual as both starting pitchers went scoreless in the first 3 innings. Judd McCall got the start for the Swedes and went 5 innings pitched on 8 hits, 7 runs (5 ER), 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Tabor started Kacey Williams who would have a good day on the mound going 7 innings with 3 runs and 8 strikeouts. 

The scoring started in the 4th inning when Tabor rallied for a few singles in the inning. They were able to scratch 1 run, but the Swedes would respond in the bottom half of the inning. Luis Ramos singled to center field and Payton Walk followed up with a 2-run home run to left field to grab the lead 1-2. 

The Swedes would fall behind following a grand slam in the top of the 5th inning to give Tabor a 6-2 lead. They would be able to scratch another run in the top of the 6th to extend their lead to 7-2.  In the bottom half of the 6th inning, Joseph Rivera lined a double to left field to get in scoring position with 0 outs. The Swedes were able to put one up on the scoreboard from an RBI groundout by Luis Ramos that allowed Joseph Rivera to score from third. 

Tabor would add another run in the top of the 8th inning to secure the win and the series by the score of 8-3. Payton Walk and Randy Good led the offense with two hits each. Kenneth Nieves was first in relief going a strong 1.2 innings only giving up 1 hit and striking out 3.

The Bethany College Baseball team will stay at home to take on University of Saint Mary starting with a doubleheader and Senior Day Saturday, April 22nd at 1:00 pm cst and a single nine inning game on Sunday, April 23rd at 1:00 pm cst.
